FOUNDER – HARRY MAHOOD
Harry “Hoody” Mahood is in his third year as a Coach with the Topeka RoadRunners of the North American Hockey League.
In 1999, Harry founded the Phoenix Polar Bears Tier 3 Junior A and served as President, General Manager and Head Coach for 10 seasons. During his tenure the Phoenix Polar Bears graduated over 170 players to NCAA, ACHA, Major Junior and Professional hockey, recorded 707 career wins, 7 WSHL League Championships and 9 Straight Appearances at USA Hockey Junior Nationals (2002-2010).
Harry began his professional coaching career, in 1995, signing a 3 year contract to Coach in Division 1 Germany. Harry also coached the Ile Des Chenes Sr. AAA North Stars to a 1998 Canadian National Semi final at the Allan Cup in Truro, Nova Scotia. In 1999 Harry signed as Director of Amateur Hockey with the Phoenix Coyotes N.H.L.
Harry is an active member of USA Hockey having been a coach at the Rocky Mountain District Camp and Northern Plains Development Camp for 12 straight years and has coached the Select 15 – 16 -17 National Player Development Festivals St. Cloud, MN and Rochester, NY. Harry is an Advanced Course Conductor for USA Hockey and Hockey Canada.
Harry began his playing career in the BCHL at aged 15, than played 4 seasons in the W.H.L. (scoring back to back 100 points season -103, 110), signed as a free agent with the Calgary Flames in 1982, played 4 seasons of Canadian College C.I.A.U. hockey at the University of Manitoba winning two championships and setting a 4 yr points record of 215 Pts. Harry finished his playing career in Division 1 Germany upon his 1987 graduation from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor or Recreation and Sports Management.
In 1987 Harry co-founded Northwestern Hockey Sports Camp with his long time friend and college teammate Larry Bumstead. Northwestern Hockey Sports Camp celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007.
Harry is married to his wife Sarah and they have 5 children.
